A Grade II-listed Building that has been renovated and turned into Beautiful new apartments.

What was the problem?

The Location was on a busy inclined road with a bus stop outside. Due the complex design and shape of the windows (curved on plan and elevation) secondary glazing was deemed impractical thus a primary with an acoustic rating of Rw42dB was specified.

How did we solve it?

After multiple discussions about the scope of works, we agreed to physically test a sash and casement window by a UKAS accredited centre to BS EN 717-1 2013. After2 days and 18 tests we achieved a rating of 41dB. Detailed measurements and templates were taken of the composite windows. They were replicated in our factory but now included acoustic double-glazed units and seal. Installation also required meticulous plan as the windows weighed over 60kg per sqm.
